You may have recently noticed a new option in your Twitter settings. About a month ago, Twitter started experimenting with a new feature allowing you to receive direct messages from anyone on Twitter, even accounts that you’re not following. If this sounds like a great new addition, don’t get too excited!
It seems Twitter has just removed this option, leading us to believe they decided against updating one of their oldest features. So, it looks like we are back to the tried and true method of only being able to DM accounts if you follow each other.
Is this a sign of Twitter trying roll out new functions and features after its IPO? We would have loved to have the ability to direct message anyone — would you?
